nobleman; gentleman (moral value)

person of noble character

君子爱财，取之有道。

jūnzǐ ài cái, qǔ zhī yǒu dào.

A gentleman loves wealth, but acquires it by proper means.

君子坦荡荡，小人常戚戚。

jūnzǐ tǎndàngdàng, xiǎorén cháng qīqī.

A gentleman remains calm and composed; a petty man is always troubled.
